Who the Valiant suits
Most modern fiberglass pools are built shallow, because most people stand and float. The Valiant is for the other household: teenagers who want to swim down, adults who like to tread water, anyone who remembers the deep end of the town pool fondly. At 7 ft, it is the second deepest shell we install, after the 8 ft Virtuous. It is still a non-diving pool, as Liberty rates all of its shells.
Liberty calls it simple and elegant, a rectangle that looks luxurious at the center of a backyard. It suits traditional houses and modern ones alike.
How the layout works
Liberty tags the Valiant with swim-up seating, multiple entry and exit points and as auto cover ready. The floor slopes from 3 ft 7 in at the shallow end to 7 ft at the deep end. That slope is gentle enough that the shallow third or so works for younger kids, while the deep end gives older ones something to do.
At about 13,700 gallons, the Valiant holds much more water than the 14 by 30 models, because of the deeper end. Compare it with the Opportunity, a 14 by 33 rectangle that stays at 5 ft 4 in and holds about 11,700 gallons. Our packages are within $400 of each other, so the choice comes down to how your family uses the water.
Fitting a Valiant on an Ohio lot
With our 4 ft deck, the Valiant needs about 22 by 40 ft. In Stow, pools need 10 ft from side and rear lines. In Strongsville, it is 15 ft from any lot line, including the equipment. Massillon keeps pools 4 ft from any building and out of easements. A 14 ft rectangle fits many suburban lots once those are drawn in.
A deeper dig matters in our soil. The deep end sits further into the clay, and in spring that is where groundwater shows up first. We plan dewatering and drainage at the deep end, and Latham, which makes Liberty pools, describes an installation sequence where water inside and backfill outside rise together so the walls stay under even pressure. We follow that on every shell.
The rectangular shape suits an automatic cover, which on a deep pool also serves as a safety barrier when closed.
What the $86,200 installed price includes
You get the Liberty shell and full installation, a Pentair variable-speed pump, a Pentair DE filter, Pentair MicroBrite color-changing LED lights, a 4 ft concrete wrap deck, a cleaning kit, starter chemicals and the electrical hook-up at the equipment. The 3D design and permits are handled by us.
We price the site items after the visit: the barrier fence, extra decking, spoils haul-off, dewatering and the power run from your panel. A deeper pool moves more soil, so the haul-off tends to be a little higher than on a shallow shell of the same outline.
Common upgrades on a Valiant
An automatic cover and a heater first. After that, sheer descents or a spillover spa at the shallow end, LED lighting and a wider patio. Automation is worth considering if you add a spa. One more thought for a deep pool: good lighting at the deep end matters more than people expect. A MicroBrite light comes in the package, and it is worth talking through where it sits during design so the deep end is well lit for night swimming.
